*This is a compilation from all my Destin blog posts – sorry if it seems random and out of order*
Review 1 – 2011
I can’t even try to be impartial to the next place – my heart is totally with McGuire’s Irish Pub. We’ve been here, numerous times, and it’s still a favorite. I won’t visit Destin without going here. It’s interesting, service is awesome, the bathrooms never stop entertaining and the food is just outrageous!
These are the nachos that we CRAVE – BUT, it seems like they got smaller this year. Hard to believe, huh? They arrive, on a HUGE napkin, with large sides of sour cream and salsa. (my only complaint? Needs guac!)
“Black” bread – yummy, moist and sweet, with a drizzle (okay, more than a drizzle) of honey and butter!
Prime Rib was so frickin’ delicious – super smoky, with a creamy, spicy horseradish dip, on the side. LOVED it.Also came with a huge baked potato – served with unlimited amounts of cheese, bacon, chives and sour cream, on the side!
I’ve never had anything bad at McGuire’s – service is ALWAYS good. It’s just a fun place to go and you don’t feel like you’re “wasting” your money. Yes, we WILL be back next year!
Review 2 – 2012
McGuire’s (has my heart)
I don’t care if it’s an Irish Pub. I love McGuire’s. Everything about it. The ambiance, the decor (as cheesy as it is – and I love it), the music, the chill in the air, the dollar bills, everything. Love.
Of course, we had to order Nachos
I kind of fell, out of love, with the nachos last year. Yes, they’re huge. But, that’s about it. There really isn’t an easy or good way to eat them and there’s not enough “stuff” for the massive amounts of chips. Eh.
So, ordered the Boxty’s, too.
They were fine. They needed some excitement. Kind of boring and bland.
Kids Cheese Bread
My son’s favorite steak, the Strip, in 3 parts.
He takes his steak eating seriously.
And, I got the Prime Rib. It was so delicious, last year, I wanted it again.
This year…not so much. I think they gave me a cut, closer to the end – it wasn’t as tender as usual. The food gods were working against me.
But, I’ll forgive McGuire’s.
Review 3 – 2013
I love McGuire’s. But, right off the bat, 2 complaints. One, the lighting. You’ll understand when you see the pictures. (And, I would apologize to McGuire’s, but it’s their fault that the pictures of their food are crappy). It’s just RED, in there. Like, seizure inducing, red. And, the music – I enjoy the Irish tunes. But, it’s so damn loud. And, I say that as a girl who likes to rock out. Well, mildly rock out. There’s only so many damn bagpipes a girl can take before she pokes someone’s eye out with a fork!
Okay, vent over.
We ordered our usual – Nachos!
I said it last year and I’ll say it again – they suck now. (I can’t get the husband on board with this one, yet). Too many chips, not enough stuff. Not well-distributed. I wouldn’t need to order these ever again.
Yummy Bread, with honey
Crock of Onion Soup
NY Strip (still my son’s fav steak!)
And, MINE – Grilled Prime Rib
Eh – I wasn’t in love. But, that was my fault. I didn’t like it last year but I was convinced that it was going to be better this year. I swear to you – I’m not ordering an entrée, next time. There was so much food that I felt like I was going to burst, when I stepped out of there. We’ll see how that promise goes for me.
I love McGuire’s, but it was a tad disappointing, this year. 😦
Review 4 – 2014
I apologize ahead of time for the crap lighting but that’s really McGuire’s fault. 😉
Senate Bean Soup
I’ve been to McGuire’s 8+ times and I’ve never had the bean soup! It was so damn good and I’m not even a fan of bean soup.
Shrimp Scampi Alfredo
Reuben Egg Rolls
I had the Reuben egg rolls and the wedge salad (plus, shared some soup). McGuire’s gives you, not only great food (a lots of it!) but a fun dining experience. (And, I got a new shirt and wine glass – score!)
