I know it’s not seafood but we are big fans of Fat Clemenza’s. It’s homey and has a real Italian family feel. The pizza is delicious, service is personal and awesome and we love the atmosphere. My husband always picks this as our first dinner in Destin, FL. I was stalking their FB page and their dessert was Lemoncello cake. That’s what my main goal was this time around – save room for dessert! My advice: during peak season, make a reservation! There aren’t a lot of tables and it gets packed quickly.
I usually enjoy my Tomato Basil soup here but sadly, it wasn’t the soup of the day. We were MORE than happy with their delicious garlic knots to share. (sorry the pics are a little red – lighting and all)
Perfect garlic knots! Buttery and coated in garlic and Parmesan. Yum.
Oh, forgot the bread for the table. It’s okay. I was too busy with garlic knots.
The boys chose pizza – it’s hard to tear them away from their love of wood-fired pizza. And, no, they won’t share.
Our 2nd daughter for the week, got Pasta Bolognese. I think she licked the bowl clean.
My daughter and I split the Lasagna. I was craving pasta but again, wanted to leave room for cake!
It was beyond delicious. Perfect sauce. Perfect cheese amount. Good melt on the cheese. And, good ratios on all layers and elements.
My daughter had dessert on her mind, too – she got Tiramisu (I’m also a huge fan!)
I had a bite – yum.
But, my focus was on the Lemoncello cake. I’m obsessed with lemon and lime items. I’d take that over chocolate, any day.
I know it looks simple and I am so okay with that. It was light, creamy and super lemony. It was everything I imagined it to be. The husband was hoping that it would suck because my expectations were so high. He was wrong – it was awesome.
If you’re looking for a non-seafood (they still have seafood, just not their main focus) place to eat while in Destin, go to Fat Clemenza’s. Don’t forget to make a reservation!
